OUR STORY

The One Where They First Met

Sefy's Story

Tej and I met on our very first day of Drexel undergrad orientation. I was standing in a crowd of other BS/MD students when I first remember seeing Tej walk over. I noticed him immediately because he stood out amongst the group. Not in any other way - but because every student there was very clearly desi/brown. And Tej… well… you already know. So I felt bad for him “Oh, he must feel so out of place. Let me be nice and talk to him”. That one move led to a four hour conversation outside of Millennium Hall which turned into a life-long friendship.

The One Where They Graduate

Tej's Story

After the first day we met, Sefy very quickly became my partner in crime. From as long as I could remember, we spent every day together from doing our homework, to hitting up the dining hall for 5-6 meals, to daily study session to the point where it became a competition of who would score higher or do better on the next test. Being Drexel’s social butterfly while also aceing every test, somehow, Sefy mastered it all and I was lucky to be by her side. She motivated me to be better, do better and made undergrad unforgettable.

The One Where They Graduate, Again

Sefy's Story

After spending three years of undergrad together, I knew that Tej would continue to be my study-buddy, rock and confidant. Throughout the four years of medical school, we were inseparable. Thanks to the unfathomable number of hours we spent studying/cramming for all of our exams sprinkled with many starbucks runs and our Philly foodie adventures — medical school made us closer. Since freshman year of undergrad, we would often share our dreams of being physicians but to have watched that become a reality was arguably one of the best moments we had together.

The One Where She Says "Yes"

Tej's Story

I first told Sefy I loved her on the Brooklyn Bridge one cold day a few years before. Since then, I knew the same bridge would be the perfect place to start our future together. Sefy’s family came up to NYC to spend the weekend with her and it was the perfect decoy for a surprise proposal. After they had “left”, I decorated Sefy’s apartment with rose petals leading up to a white dress, shoes and a card telling her to get ready and come to Brooklyn Bridge. I’m sure she knew at that moment what was going to happen. It was a beautiful summer day, a saxophone player (Sefy’s favorite instrument) played her favorite song (All of Me by John Legend) while I got down on one knee and asked her to be my best-friend and wife for life.

The One Where She Says "I Do"

After being by each other's side from the first day of undergrad, we get to write our story together.
